Meet the Staff Mondays – Vicki Peterson

We thought our readers/viewers might like to learn about some of the folks who work at IdahoPTV. Because there are so many people who work behind the scenes, you may have seen some of them, or maybe only heard about them. Today we would like to introduce Technical Records Specialist Vicki Peterson.

IdahoPTV’s Carol Beres recently sat down with Vicki, one of our longtime employees. Vicki handles many different aspects of the membership department, from helping donors with account questions, to processing payments from donors, to ordering DVDs and the thank-you gifts we offer during Festival. She helps out the accounting department with reports. “I just do a little bit of everything,” she says. And she’s coming up on her 20th year here at IdahoPTV.

Vicki is a native Idahoan. “I grew up in Jerome and Twin Falls. I went to college at College of Southern Idaho,” she says. She lives in the Treasure Valley, but she likes the Valley County area when it’s time to relax. “My favorite part, I’d have to say, would be McCall,” she says. “Just because of the lakes and being outdoors in the mountains and the fresh air.” Vicki usually heads up there with some friends when it’s vacation time. “It’s not really camping because my friend has a place in Donnelly, but we still do most of the cooking outside and we do a campfire every night. We go 4-wheeling up in the mountains and look for berries and firewood. Just being outdoors, if it’s not too hot.”

Vicki enjoyed a week-long Alaskan cruise a few years ago. However, she says, “I don’t know if I’d do it again. I’d rather fly to Alaska and then just get out, stay there and see how the Alaskan people live. Instead of just going into a port for six hours and you really can’t see what the countryside is about or how the people really live. They just drop you off where all the shops are.” She’s also been to the Oregon coast and Seattle a bit. But those trips are in the past. “Right now, with COVID, I don’t have any desire to go travel,” Vicki adds. Vicki also loves to be with her seven-year-old granddaughter, who lives in the Boise area.

When it comes to working at IdahoPTV, Vicki says it’s all about the people. “It’s because I love my job. And I love my coworkers. I look forward to coming to work to interact with my coworkers and my members. I like my job. I like the people I work with a lot,” she says. When it comes to her favorite snack, Vicki has a fondness for a sweet treat: “I’d have to go with maple bars. Bruce (Reichert) and I used to fight over them,” Vicki remembers.
